In January, artist Maja Simišić went to a beauty salon for the first time to get long fake gel nails with a random design. She made this decision to do something out of the ordinary, especially since it was New Year's and she wanted to break out of her routine. Simišić visited a nail salon in Belgrade called Aleksandra. As seen in the pictures, the nails were French tip style in green with rhinestones and a square shape.
The artist documented her everyday activities and struggles through videos and pictures. She created a short video diary of daily tasks she attempted with her new nails to illustrate how they changed her routine. In addition to the video documentation, Simišić made a table rating the difficulty of common tasks she performed and the problems she encountered, with each task given a star rating indicating its difficulty level. The visual language was playful, as the entire experiment felt like a game to her.
Simišić shared all these challenging experiences on her social media (Instagram). After a month with the nails and the accompanying struggles, she jokingly asked her followers if she should get a new set of nails or get rid of them. Despite seeing how much she hated them, the majority of her followers voted for her to get a new set.
